BOARD'S CLIMATE JOURNEY is a joint executive education program by INSEAD and Chapter Zero Kazakhstan. It is based on leading INSEAD and Chapter Zero network cases and practices, with a learning experience comparable to executive programs at the world's top business schools.

Learning Structure

The program is built around three connected modules and a follow-up session with INSEAD Professor Ludo Van der Heyden, Founding Director of the INSEAD Corporate Governance Initiative (ICGI).

Climate Governance - September 2024

This module consists of online lessons, topic-based tests, and a discussion platform for participants.

Sessions are led by representatives of Chapter Zero and Climate Governance Initiative chapters around the world.

The Climate Science topic is delivered as an online business simulation.

Module 03

Green Finance and Follow-up Session - Astana, Kazakhstan, November 2025

Day 1

Green Finance

  • Green finance instruments available in Kazakhstan: how to choose the right instrument and what requirements a project must meet.
  • In-person session with representatives of financial institutions, including feedback on projects proposed by participants.

Day 2

Follow-up Session

  • Two months after completing the program, participants discuss the steps they have taken, from creating boards of directors with other participants to raising key questions with shareholders.
  • The main idea of corporate governance is to build communities where no one is left alone.
  • The board of directors plays a key role in supporting the CEO and protecting the company from pressure by shareholders, including state shareholders.
  • The board's task is to act in the interests of the company, not individual stakeholders.
  • The program also addresses climate change and how to integrate the climate agenda into corporate governance.
